Day 7 of the Everest Base Camp trek takes you from Dingboche to Lobuche. The trail crosses open mountain terrain, climbs past the memorials above Thukla and finishes at a higher overnight stop. After the acclimatization day in Dingboche, this is a day to walk steadily and pay attention to how you feel as you gain altitude.

The trail leaves Dingboche and follows the valley towards Thukla. The scenery is more open than on the lower sections of the trek, with broad views across the surrounding slopes. From parts of the route, you can look towards Pheriche below; the usual Dingboche-to-Lobuche trail does not pass through the village.
On a clear day, Tawache and Cholatse make a striking backdrop. Take time for photographs, but keep a comfortable pace for the climb later in the day.

Thukla, also written Dughla, is a common place to stop for tea or lunch before the steep ascent. It is a useful chance to eat, drink and adjust your layers. Your guide can discuss the climb ahead and help set a pace that suits the group.
Above Thukla, the trail climbs steeply to an area of stone memorials dedicated to climbers and others who lost their lives in the mountains. It is a place to pause respectfully and reflect on the people connected with the Everest region.
The climb can feel demanding at this altitude. Walk slowly, take breaks when needed and tell your guide if you feel unwell. The memorial area also offers wide valley and mountain views when the weather is clear.

Beyond the memorials, the trail continues across rocky, exposed ground towards Lobuche. The surrounding landscape has a different character from the villages and forests of the earlier days. Watch your footing on uneven sections and keep a warm layer close at hand if the wind picks up.
Lobuche is your overnight stop. After reaching the lodge, take the afternoon quietly and speak with your guide about the next day’s route towards Gorak Shep and Everest Base Camp.

If the sky is clear, the evening light on the nearby mountains can be a memorable end to the walk. Conditions change quickly, so treat a sunset view as a welcome possibility rather than a fixed part of the itinerary. A warm meal and rest are the priorities after this higher-altitude day.
The Dingboche-to-Lobuche walk stands out for its open scenery, the climb above Thukla and the memorials along the route. It also brings you closer to Everest Base Camp, making a steady pace and honest communication with your guide especially valuable.
